APQP. Advanced product quality planning

APQP (Advanced product quality planning) is the process of product quality planning (development process). Successful APQP implementation considers first of all well-coordinated teamwork to unite all the processes of the company, to «make friends» between them and to establish internal communication in order to develop a unified strategy for achieving efficiency and effectiveness. In addition, the APQP methodology is one of the mandatory in the framework of the IATF 16949 implementation.

Advantages of APQP implementation:

• production error prevention and up-front quality planning;
• understanding the needs of the customer;
• an additional tool to strengthen teamwork;
• an effective method of strengthening control due to the interconnectedness of the stages of the APQP process – the results (outputs) of the previous stage are the inputs of the next stage;
• the ability to meet established production dates while maintaining high quality products;
• reporting unification for suppliers (if it’s necessary);
• the ability to quickly identify the necessary changes and avoid delayed implementation.
